As a charitable organisation, and in response to growing concerns about funeral poverty across the UK, the Scottish Cremation Society remains committed to keeping cremation charges as affordable as possible.
The cost for an adult 45 minute cremation service is £795 and for a 90 minute service is £1,195 (inclusive of arrival and departure time).
A short but dignified “no-fuss” service can be arranged for £395. Up to ten attendees are welcome to attend the committal and we will provide one piece of music of your choosing, and one tribute photograph.
Our standard fee applies throughout the day, with no additional surcharge applied for peak/popular times or for services held on a Saturday or on public holidays.

Our standard service times are as follows:
Monday to Friday: 9am – 3:45pm
Saturday: 9am – 12pm
Wherever possible, we will accommodate requests for other service times.

Use of the chapel with assistance from our experienced chapel attendants.
Use of the Obitus Maestro system, with an extensive music library covering all genres of music.
Traditional and secular organ music will continue to be provided by our highly experienced and talented resident organists when required.
Both chapels have wheelchair access and toilet facilities.
A comfortable vestry area for service leaders is provided.
Every cremation is abated for Mercury, which allows us to lower our impact on the environment.
Ashes are prepared for removal in a sealed, biodegradable box with the cremation certificate.
Sometimes a family may feel 45 minutes is not enough to say a proper goodbye, we offer one cremation with a 90 minute service time.
At times sadly 2 family members can both have been lost within a short space of time. They can share one 45 minute service time with 2 cremations.
Unattended / drop off only
A direct cremation service is one without a lot of fuss or orchestration. Words of committal are recited by the chapel attendant, whilst a piece of music plays softly in the background. Up to ten family or friends may be present for the duration of the brief committal service.
Use of Old or New chapel. The full use of our service is available as above, without the cremation.
A member of staff will guide the family with the dispersal of ashes and explain the layout of our Garden of Reflection. If the cremation has taken place at our crematorium, there is no fee.

Choose from a range of curated themes and have up to 25 photos professionally edited and timed to a chosen piece of music.
A surcharge for any additional holding images beyond the single photo.
A downloadable version of the music or themed tribute to keep forever.
For each extra 25 photos on a visual tribute.
A fee that is applied to any of the standard products for additional work outside the norm, e.g. adding a video to a tribute.
Family supported video/photo tribute used as received with basic quality checks performed by the Obitus team.
