Ministers, celebrants, humanists & visitors

We warmly welcome all individuals who are leading a funeral or memorial service to acquaint themselves with the operation of our chapels in advance of attendance. We recognise the vital role you play in supporting families during times of loss and we are committed to ensuring that you feel fully informed and confident when working here and can attend comforted in the knowledge that our attentive staff are close at hand to assist in the event of need.

We also encourage visitors to make use of our open-door policy (subject to service needs). You are very welcome to visit the Crematorium and talk with a member of staff about our facilities, procedures and technologies. We will do our best to reassure you ahead of your loved one’s funeral service.

To help you prepare, we provide opportunities to familiarise yourself with the layout of both chapels, including seating arrangements, lecterns, music facilities, and visual tribute systems. Understanding the flow of the building - from arrival and the beginning of the service, through to the committal - can greatly assist in providing a smooth and respectful experience for the families you serve. If you are new to Glasgow Crematorium, or if you would appreciate a refresher, we are happy to offer guided visits at a time that suits you.

If you require assistance on the day of a service, our experienced Chapel Attendants are always present to support you. From checking music selections and timings to ensuring microphones and visual tributes run as planned, we aim to provide the practical reassurance needed for a smooth and professional ceremony. Working together, we strive to honour every family’s wishes and provide the highest standards of care.

Columbarium Tower

Located above the Old Chapel, the Columbarium Tower provides a distinctive and historic resting place for cremated remains. Spaces within the tower are limited, making this a rare and unique option for those seeking a peaceful and dignified place of remembrance.

Access to the Columbarium Tower (our niche facility for ashes) is via the Old Chapel and therefore we grant access on Sundays only between 11am – 3pm, or by prior arrangement.

Stained-Glass Dome

Expertly crafted in ornate marble and arranged across five levels, the tower is topped with a breathtaking stained-glass dome atrium that fills the space with radiant, natural light.
