Crematorium NewsNational Baby Loss Awareness Week every October is a time of reflection and commemoration for all those infants so briefly with us but forever remembered. It is also an opportunity for raising awareness of these devastating losses and encouraging change in how we view such tragedies and support parents and extended families in this difficult time.
We held our first Infant Loss Memorial Service on Sunday 12th October 2025. It was an intimate and dignified service undertaken in partnership with CWS Funeral Services, with words of comfort spoken by the Rev Brian Casey, and which culminated in the dedication of a decorative slate memorial tablet, now situated in the Garden of Reflection to the rear of the New Chapel.
The service was both emotional and uplifting and we were privileged to have in attendance the CEO and family of Baby Loss Retreat, a charitable organisation providing access to a variety of counselling opportunities including trauma therapy, child music counselling and two retreats for bereaved parents in Fife and Castle Douglas. Julie and Bryan Morrison, the founders of this charity, were on hand to lend additional support and information on the types of services available to parents in such difficult times.
